Introduction

About the Role

A leading IT solutions provider is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to execute and grow their Government sector portfolio strategy. You'll identify new business opportunities, forge strategic vendor and customer partnerships, and help meet revenue and profit targets. This role calls for a technology-focused thought leader who can engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and Government sector customers
  • Identify new business opportunities through regular vendor and customer engagement
  • Provide weekly sales forecasts and input on stock holding where applicable
  • Develop and implement growth and marketing strategies with vendors and customers
  • Distribute product/training information and position vendor product sets to sales teams and customers
  • Track competitive market intelligence and stay current on emerging technologies
  • Deliver vendor presentations and training to internal sales teams and customers
  • Build business cases for C-level executives and technical stakeholders
  • Participate in tender evaluation, solution recommendation, and accurate pricing
  • Act as a trusted advisor to both colleagues and customers, coaching sales personnel where needed

Desired Experience & Qualification

Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 3 years' business development management experience within the IT industry (essential)
  • Minimum 8 years' sales experience, preferably in IT
  • Proven history of sales success within the IT industry
  • Strong knowledge of markets, technologies, and solutions
  • Experience delivering vendor presentations and preparing/presenting quotations
  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies and sales plans
  • Experience in sales reporting

Skills & Education

  • Matric essential; relevant tertiary qualification advantageous
  • Above-average computer literacy (MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); intermediate+ Excel required
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills
  • Strong networking, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
  • Good presentation skills and strong numerical ability
  • Excellent time management; deadline-driven with strong prioritisation skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Technology enthusiast, comfortable engaging stakeholders across all levels including C-level
  • Excellent customer service skills

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's licence and own vehicle
  • Willingness to travel locally and interprovincially, plus weekly travel to Midrand
  • Business attire / professional dress code

Package & Remuneration

OTE package depending on experience
