Our client is a leading Discretionary Fund Manager (DFM) in South Africa, formed through a partnership
between a major financial services group and one of the worlds leading global asset managers. The business models retirement and investment solutions using advanced, behaviour-driven technology, with the goal of delivering a market-leading client investment experience.
This role is focused on growing flows into the DFM model portfolios among financial advisors who have both a primary and secondary relationship with external investment platforms, by positioning the DFM as the preferred investment option for their clients.
The Business Development Managers role is to drive external platform distribution strategy and grow net inflows into the DFM's local and offshore model portfolios, by building and deepening relationships with independent financial advisors, fund of funds, private wealth managers and tied agency brokers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Increase net inflows among independent financial advisors (large, mid-tier and small) writing business on external platforms.
- Leverage and grow a strong existing network of IFAs, Funds of Funds, Private Wealth managers and Tied Agency brokers.
- Build strong relationships with these stakeholders by creating the right level of engagement and activity.
- Implement the external platform sales and distribution strategy for the business.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Industry-related experience, with a particular focus on the technical positioning and selling of local and offshore model portfolios and unit trust funds.
- A strong, established network of IFAs, Funds of Funds, Private Wealth managers and Tied Brokers.
- Extensive technical and/or business acumen within asset management or investment distribution.
- A formal Finance/Commerce degree, at least at Honours level (or equivalent, provided the candidate is technically sound across Retail Asset Management sales and marketing).
- A minimum of 10–15 years' sales experience within the Asset Management industry
