Business Analyst

Introduction

You will be responsible for providing analysis and management skills to assist the business in effectively leveraging IT resources and information to support business goals

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Business Systems & Process Analysis

• Analyse business requirements and align them with IT systems and solutions.

• Gather, document, and manage business and system requirements.

• Develop functional specifications for system enhancements and new developments.

• Evaluate system improvements, risks, opportunities, and business impact.

• Recommend and participate in the selection and implementation of new systems.

• Map, review, and improve business processes to enhance operational efficiency.

2. Project & Change Management

• Coordinate system development projects with internal stakeholders and service providers.

• Prepare business cases and cost motivations for system enhancements.

• Manage vendor contracts, deliverables, and implementation timelines.

• Develop training materials and facilitate user adoption of new systems and processes.

3. Data Management

• Define data and reporting requirements with business stakeholders.

• Ensure data quality, accuracy, completeness, and integrity.

• Establish and monitor validation rules and data controls.

• Communicate data-related issues and corrective actions to stakeholders.

4. Testing & Quality Assurance

• Develop test cases and testing scenarios.

• Conduct system, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

• Manage testing activities, track defects, and ensure issues are resolved.

• Obtain sign-off and approval before system deployment.

5. System Maintenance & Support

• Monitor system performance and efficiency.

• Test and implement software updates and service packs.

• Train users on system enhancements and updates.

• Support the ongoing maintenance of organisational systems architecture.

6. Service Provider Management

• Build and maintain effective relationships with external service providers.

• Monitor vendor performance and ensure business priorities are met.

• Recommend contract renewals, amendments, or changes as required.

7. Reporting & Business Intelligence

• Review and improve existing reports for accuracy and relevance.

• Analyse business data and prepare meaningful reports.

• Design and develop new reporting tools and dashboards to support decision-making.

Desired Experience & Qualification

NQF 7 in BCom Information Technology or similar is required

3 years‘ business analysis experience is required (preferably in a financial environment)

5 years’ systems experience in a commercial environment

Systems change and implementation process (SDLC) in a structured environment experience across multiple projects is required

Must have experience in a medium sized business environment
