Business Analyst

Introduction

The IT Business Analyst is responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. The role involves analysing business processes, gathering and documenting requirements, facilitating communication between stakeholders and technical teams, and supporting the successful delivery of IT solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Engage with business stakeholders to understand objectives, challenges, and requirements.

• Conduct business and process analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Gather, analyse, validate, and document functional and non-functional requirements.

• Translate business requirements into clear specifications for IT and development teams.

• Develop business requirements documents, functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and use cases.

• Facilitate workshops, interviews, requirements-gathering sessions, and stakeholder meetings.

• Work closely with Product Owners, Project Managers, Developers, QA teams, Architects, and other technical stakeholders.

• Analyse the impact of proposed system changes on business processes and users.

• Support solution design and ensure that proposed solutions align with business requirements.

• Define and support user acceptance testing (UAT), including test scenarios and acceptance criteria.

• Assist with implementation, training, change management, and post-implementation support.

• Identify risks, dependencies, gaps, and opportunities within business and technology processes.

• Monitor delivered solutions to ensure they meet agreed business requirements and expected outcomes.

• Maintain clear documentation and ensure requirements are traceable throughout the project lifecycle.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analysis, Business Management, or a related field.

• Relevant Business Analysis certification such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or equivalent is advantageous.

• 3+ years of experience in an IT Business Analyst or similar role, depending on seniority.

Technical & Business Skills

• Strong requirements elicitation and analysis skills.

• Business process modelling and process improvement.

• Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.

• Understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC).

• Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, functional requirements, and use cases.

• Familiarity with SQL and database concepts.

• Ability to interpret APIs, integrations, data flows, and system interfaces.

• Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.

• Strong understanding of testing and UAT processes.

• Ability to analyse data and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.

• Knowledge of project management and change management principles.
