Business Analyst

Introduction

SSG Consulting is looking for an experienced and highly capable Business Analyst to join our team on a major infrastructure programme based in Johannesburg .

The successful candidate will work within a professional project environment, supporting business analysis, process improvement, requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement and the development of practical business solutions. This role requires someone who can work confidently across different stakeholder groups and translate business requirements into clear, structured and actionable outputs.

The role will also require local travel to various project locations and stakeholder sites as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas

• Engage with stakeholders to identify, analyse and document business requirements.

• Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions, workshops and stakeholder discussions.

• Analyse existing business processes and identify gaps, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.

• Develop process maps, workflows, business requirements and functional specifications.

• Translate complex business needs into clear requirements and practical solutions.

• Perform gap analysis and support the development of improved processes and operating models.

• Liaise between business stakeholders, project teams and technical resources.

• Assist with the preparation of business cases, reports, presentations and management information.

• Track requirements, actions, decisions and deliverables through the project lifecycle.

• Support testing, implementation and change-management activities where required.

• Ensure accurate documentation, version control and traceability of business requirements.

• Provide regular progress reporting and proactively identify risks, issues and dependencies.

• Travel locally to project sites, stakeholder offices and other locations as operationally required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Business Management, Project Management or a related discipline.

• Demonstrable professional experience as a Business Analyst , preferably within a large, complex organisation or programme environment.

• Strong experience in business requirements gathering, process analysis and process mapping .

• Experience working with multiple stakeholders at different organisational levels.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Visio or similar process-mapping tools .

• Ability to prepare professional reports, presentations and business documentation.

• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and deliver within agreed deadlines.

• Must be willing and available to travel locally as required by the project.

Advantageous Experience

Experience within major infrastructure, transport, rail, engineering, public-sector, PMO/EPMO or project/programme environments will be advantageous. Business Analysis certification such as CBAP, CCBA or equivalent would also be beneficial.

We are looking for someone who is analytical, organised, proactive and confident in engaging with stakeholders at both operational and senior management level. The individual should be comfortable working in a demanding project environment where accuracy, accountability, professional communication and follow-through are essential.

Important: This position is Johannesburg-based . The successful candidate will be required to work from the designated project offices as required and must be available to travel locally to project and stakeholder locations when necessary.
