We are seeking a Gauteng-based Mid-Level Business Analyst / Process Engineer for a 12-month contract within a large, complex operational environment. The role will focus on business analysis, requirements gathering, process mapping, Lean process improvement and functional specification writing , supporting business and system transformation initiatives. Candidates with 4–6 years' experience gained within mining, resources, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing, engineering or heavy industry are strongly preferred. This opportunity is not targeted at candidates whose experience is predominantly within banking or financial services . Business Analyst / Process Engineer – Mid-Level | 12-Month Contract | Gauteng

Gauteng | R75,000 – R100,000 per month | Fixed-Term Contract We are looking for a strong mid-level Business Analyst / Process Engineer to join a large-scale business transformation environment on a 12-month contract. This opportunity is ideally suited to someone who comes from a mining, resources, petrochemical, energy, manufacturing, engineering or heavy industrial environment and understands complex operational business processes. Please note: This is not a Financial Services or Banking Business Analyst role . Candidates whose experience is predominantly within banking, insurance or financial services will not be the primary target for this opportunity.

What you'll be doing

• Gather, analyse and document business requirements

• Write Business Requirement Documents (BRDs) and Functional Specifications

• Map current As-Is and future To-Be business processes

• Apply Lean process mapping and process improvement principles

• Identify inefficiencies, duplication, gaps and opportunities for improvement

• Support process standardisation and optimisation ahead of system migration

• Facilitate requirements and process workshops with business stakeholders

• Challenge existing ways of working and recommend practical best-practice solutions

• Conduct gap analysis between business requirements, processes and system capabilities

• Work across SAP and non-SAP business systems

• Support processes relating to Time & Attendance and workforce management systems

• Assist with testing, process validation and business readiness

• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions and process documentation

What we're looking for

• Relevant Degree, Diploma or recognised Business Analysis / Process Engineering qualification

• Approximately 4–6 years' relevant experience

• Strong Business Analysis and business process mapping experience

• Proven experience writing BRDs and Functional Specifications

• Strong As-Is / To-Be process mapping capability

• Process improvement / Lean methodology exposure

• Experience working in a large, complex operational organisation

• ERP or enterprise systems exposure

• SAP exposure would be advantageous

• SAP HR/HCM or SAP SuccessFactors exposure would be advantageous

• Time & Attendance or workforce management systems exposure would be advantageous

Preferred industry experience

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked within: Mining | Resources | Petrochemical | Energy | Manufacturing | Engineering | Heavy Industry Experience within mining houses, Sasol-type industrial environments, large manufacturing operations or other complex operational businesses would be highly relevant.

You are analytical, practical and confident enough to ask "Why are we doing it this way?" You shouldn't simply document an existing process. You should be able to understand it, map it, identify what isn't working and contribute to designing a better and more efficient future-state process. You will be comfortable engaging with both operational business stakeholders and technical/system teams , while producing clear, accurate documentation.
