This mid-to-senior Business Analyst role sits within a technology and data-focused function, with responsibility for connecting business stakeholders to the data and technical teams to improve decision-making, processes and reporting. Job Specification

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role acts as a bridge between business teams and data/technical specialists, turning broad business questions, pain points and reporting needs into clear, actionable requirements, metric definitions and process enhancements. Offer

Key responsibilities include

• Meeting with stakeholders across finance, operations, sales, credit/risk and procurement to understand business processes, pain points and reporting requirements.

• Asking robust clarifying questions to uncover the underlying business problem behind data or reporting requests.

• Mapping business processes and identifying where improved data, reporting or automation can enhance outcomes.

• Helping to define business metrics, KPIs, standard terms and data definitions, working closely with Data Analysts to implement them.

• Translating operational language into data and technical requirements for the Data Analyst and wider Tech & Data team.

• Using data and analysis (produced by or with the Data Analyst) to support pricing, risk, supplier, client, sales and operational strategy discussions.

• Identifying opportunities for automation, prediction, prioritisation and improved decision workflows, and assisting in scoping these for delivery.

• Supporting practical data governance by reducing conflicting reports and spreadsheet-based “versions of the truth” through aligned definitions and ownership across teams.

• Using approved AI tools to accelerate documentation, requirements gathering and stakeholder communication, while carefully reviewing all output before it is used.

• This position is based in Sandton with flexibility, and reports to the Tech & Data Team Lead.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED Essential skills and experience

• Strong business analysis capabilities, including process mapping, requirements gathering and stakeholder interviewing.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical audiences.

• Demonstrated commercial thinking, connecting requirements to business value, risk, revenue and operational efficiency.

• Confidence working with Excel for reconciliation, light analysis and modelling.

• A working understanding of key data concepts, such as metrics, definitions and data quality, even without deep SQL or business intelligence expertise.

• Practical, responsible experience using approved AI tools to support documentation and analysis.

NICE TO HAVE Beneficial experience

• Background in a financial services, lending or fintech environment.

• Experience working alongside finance, credit, risk, procurement or sales teams.

• Exposure to Power BI, SQL or data modelling concepts (not necessarily as a developer, but sufficient to support effective translation between business and technical stakeholders).
