The successful candidate will take full ownership of Goscor Lift Truck Company’s (“GLT’s”) performance in Cape Town with a key focus on driving sales growth, expanding market share, and delivering exceptional customer service levels. This role is ideal for a proven business leader who has a strong commercial mindset and who thrives on achieving targets and unlocking new business opportunities.
In addition to overseeing daily operations and staff management, the Branch Manager will lead local sales initiatives, build lasting client relationships, and implement strategies to grow the branch’s revenue and profitability. He/she will also focus on implementing lasting improvements in our Service department, so as to ultimately provide a world-class service to customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for the sales performance, service levels, stock management and growth of the branch.
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities in the region and surrounding areas.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, focusing on long-term customer retention and upselling opportunities .
- Oversee daily operations including distribution, customer service, human resources, and administration, while keeping revenue opportunities as the core focus .
- Monitor local market trends and develop targeted strategies to grow market penetration .
- Create and execute effective sales plans and forecasts aligned with financial goals.
- Lead and motivate the branch team to achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets .
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty through consistent service delivery.
- Promote the GLT brands and improve the branch’s market visibility.
- Share sales and service best practices and collaborate with other branches and Head Office.
- Compile and present regular performance reports to EXCO/Board level.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Matric (Grade 12)
- A relevant 3-year (or 4-year) tertiary qualification and /or a post-graduate diploma in business administration is .
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role in the capital equipment sector is essential. Similar experience in the MHE space is ideal.
- Proven ability to generate revenue, close deals, and meet or exceed sales targets.
- Strong knowledge of capital equipment sales and rental (parts & service knowledge is also critical).
- Familiarity with MHE.
