A highly specialised opportunity exists for an exceptionally organised, systematic, and detail-oriented individual to take ownership of a busy academic bookshop operation. This permanent role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys structure, thrives on organisation, and has experience within a school, academic supplier, educational retail, procurement, or stock-driven environment.

This is not a traditional role, it requires someone who can successfully coordinate a highly detailed annual operational process involving textbooks, stationery, stock management, supplier liaison, procurement, billing, and large-scale planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the bookshop
  • Procurement of textbooks, stationery, art, and engineering supplies
  • Supplier liaison, pricing negotiations, and order management
  • Stock control, inventory management, and pricing
  • Coordinating textbook resale processes
  • Working closely with staff regarding curriculum requirements
  • Managing learner/parent orders and processing
  • Coordinating billing with the accounts department
  • Leading a large annual textbook and stationery distribution programme for approximately 800 learners

A Key Annual Responsibility: The successful candidate will oversee an intensive 4-day December packing operation, coordinating a temporary team to prepare textbook, stationery, art, and engineering packs for the new academic year. This process is critical to ensuring a smooth and successful start to the school year and requires exceptional planning, organisation, and execution.

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience in a school, educational supplier, bookshop, procurement, or highly structured stock management environment
  • Strong administration and organisational skills
  • Proven experience managing stock, suppliers, or procurement processes
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly systematic, organised, and process driven
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and moving parts simultaneously
  • Strong computer literacy and systems ability
