Our client is seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper and Administrative Officer to provide accurate and efficient bookkeeping and administrative support in Johannasburg,Gauteng. The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for bookkeeping, and and financial administration while also assisting with general office administration, record-keeping and departmental support.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Creditors Management
- Load and update supplier information.
- Capture and reconcile supplier invoices and payments.
- Ensure timely receipt and accuracy of supplier information and payments.
- Facilitate vendor applications and maintain agreed payment terms.
General Bookkeeping
- Accurately capture invoice details (Date, Amount, Description, Chart of Account, VAT Category).
- Maintain and update the asset register and depreciation schedule.
- Reconcile bank account transactions and credit card expenses daily.
- Capture and reconcile petty cash and other expenses.
General Administration
- Maintain up-to-date insurance policies and ensure all new assets are insured.
- Handle insurance claims and follow up on payments.
- Ensure all HR documents and company compliance documents (BEE certificates, tax compliance certificates, CIPC returns) are current and properly filed.
- Facilitate bank-related changes or requests.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' practical bookkeeping experience.
- Relevant qualification in Bookkeeping, Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Strong practical knowledge of bookkeeping and financial record keeping.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
- Experience using bokkeeping/accounting software or financial systems
- Good understanding of invoices, payments and reconcilliations.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good administrative, organisational and record-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity, responsibility and confidentiality.
- Experience in an NGO, NPO or charity environment would be advantageous.
- Experience with procurement, inventory/asset records or audit documentation would be advantageious.
