A well-established company in the East Rand is seeking a Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to join their finance team. Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant Finance or Accounting qualification advantageous
- 3–5 years' experience in a finance administration, cashbook or accounts payable role
- Experience with bank reconciliations and creditor reconciliations
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Experience with payment processing and cash flow planning
- Computer literate with strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience on an ERP or accounting system
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Key Responsibilities
- Capture, maintain and reconcile daily cashbook transactions
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding or suspense transactions
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries
- Manage accounts payable and perform monthly creditor reconciliations
- Ensure supplier statements reconcile with the accounts payable ledger
- Process supplier payments accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Prepare monthly payment schedules and assist with cash flow planning
- Distribute proof of payments to suppliers and the accounts payable department
- Manage intercompany account reconciliations
- Assist with banking administration and financial record keeping
- Support accounts receivable and stock administration where required
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on stock, cash flow and financial information
- Ensure all finance-related documentation is accurate, complete and filed correctly
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure efficient financial operations
