Please note that this appointment will be made in line with company’s employment equity policy and divisional employment equity targets Job Purpose: The Boiler maker, Welder is responsible for providing technical support to the maintenance team by assisting with the upkeep, repair, and installation of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery used in the pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. The role ensures that equipment runs efficiently, minimizing downtime and maintaining the high standards of product quality and safety. MAIN TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintenance Support Assist in the routine and preventative maintenance of all mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment within the facility. Conduct regular inspections to identify potential mechanical failures or areas for improvement. Perform minor repairs and assist in more complex repairs under the supervision of the maintenance team. Ensure machine calibrations and safety systems are functioning properly. Equipment Installation and Setup Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery, ensuring they meet operational and safety standards. Ensure equipment is correctly set up before use in production processes. Provide support in the decommissioning of old equipment and installation of replacements. Technical Support and Troubleshooting Identify, report, and help resolve mechanical issues with equipment that could impact production. Provide technical support for breakdowns, working in collaboration with senior mechanical technicians. Assist in root cause analysis of mechanical failures and suggest improvements or solutions. Safety and Compliance Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards and relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain work areas and tools to meet cleanliness and safety standards. Assist in conducting safety checks for equipment and machines, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols. Documentation and Reporting Accurately record maintenance activities and keep logs of repairs, inspections, and services. Provide timely updates to the maintenance supervisor regarding equipment status, breakdowns, and maintenance schedules. Assist in preparing and submitting reports for internal audits and inspections. Collaboration and Teamwork Work closely with the maintenance team and other departments to resolve mechanical issues swiftly. Attend and participate in team meetings to discuss maintenance schedules, challenges, and improvements.
