Job Description

  • A leading beverage manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Blowmoulding Technician Artisan with strong experience in blow moulding equipment, machine maintenance, fault finding, and PET bottle manufacturing to join their team in Tulbagh, Western Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimising blow moulding machinery to ensure efficient production while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain blow moulding machines for optimal performance.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults on production equipment.
  • Assist with mould changes, machine setup, alignment, and commissioning.
  • Diagnose faults and complete root cause analyses to prevent recurring issues.
  • Perform minor PLC, drive, and sensor troubleshooting and adjustments.
  • Monitor and optimise machine settings, cycle times, and material usage.
  • Inspect products to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
  • Complete production, maintenance, and quality documentation accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety, and quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Mentor and assist operators and junior technicians where required.

Requirements

  • Technical qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plastics Engineering N4, Trade Test, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in blow moulding extrusion or injection stretch blow moulding preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of plastic processing and moulding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and machine manuals.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.
