The Automotive Accountant is responsible for managing and controlling the branch’s financial activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with IFRS, company policies, and procedures. The role includes overseeing fixed assets, debtors, creditors, stock, reconciliations, expenses, cash sales, journals, and general ledger transactions. The position is also responsible for branch-level risk management, monitoring vehicle stock counts, identifying discrepancies, and implementing timely corrective actions. The Automotive Accountant supports the accounting team, drives continuous improvement of financial processes, and ensures effective financial controls across the dealership.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare Accurate reports and financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Control fixed assets, debtors and creditors.
- Perform various payment and balance sheet reconciliations and ensure that discrepancies are resolved in timely manner.
- Reconcile stock and stock management.
- Risk Management at branch level.
- Expenses control.
- Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly journals (oversee the general ledger and ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly and within set deadlines.)
- Review of vehicle stock counts.
- Monitor parts and workshop cash sales.
- Control branch financial activities.
- Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.
- Ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Pro-actively review current accounting procedures and recommend improvements where appropriate.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- BCom Degree in Accounting or similar.
- CA(SA) advantageous.
- Min 3 years' experience in similar role within the motor industry.
- Code 8 Licence
