Responsibilities

Conduct Food Safety inspections

  • Conduct regular on-site inspections of various food establishments, including restaurants, food processing facilities, retail stores, and other food-related premises.
  • Evaluate food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation practices to ensure compliance with legal and client specific requirements.

Audit Compliance

  • Verify that food establishments adhere to established food safety and hygiene guidelines, HACCP Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point principles, and industry standards.
  • Review documentation and records related to food safety, such as temperature logs, cleaning schedules, employee training records, and pest control reports.
  • Working to procedures the auditor will be required to undertake detailed evaluations of food premises, procedures, and practices against pre-determined standards.
  • Conform to client-specific behaviour requirements during audits/visits.
  • Confirm close-out of disputes where applicable.
  • Fill in the Client Confirmation Slip and NC reports on every audit.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Using objective evidence gained through the evaluations, the auditor will be required to prepare detailed reports in an accurate and concise manner to formulate findings. In addition, the auditor will be required to report findings verbally to clients.
  • Prepare detailed reports based on inspections and audits, outlining findings, non-compliances, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all inspections and follow-up actions.
  • Comply with the required turn-around time as per client standard.

Training and Education

  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for food establishment staff on food safety best practices, proper hygiene procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to food businesses to help them improve their food safety and hygiene practices.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate inspection results and recommendations to relevant client representatives, management teams, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other food safety professionals to exchange information and stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

Stay informed about Regulations

  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in food safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Continuously update knowledge and skills to maintain expertise in the field.

Requirements

Qualification

  • National diploma or degree in environmental health, food safety, food technology, microbiology or biotechnology.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years' experience conducting Food safety or hygiene audits
  • Experience interacting with clients at operational and management level.
  • Experience completing audit documentation, reports and evidence logs.

Skills

  • Strong auditing and evaluation skills using objective evidence.
  • Ability to interpret, apply and assess compliance against pre‑determined food safety standards.
  • Competence in risk assessment and hazard identification.
  • High level of accuracy in completing reports and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal communication for opening/closing meetings and client discussions.
  • Strong professional writing skills for clear, concise audit reports.
  • Ability to manage disputes and confirm close‑outs professionally.
  • Ability to uphold integrity, ethics, confidentiality and client behaviour requirements.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different client environments and expectations.
  • Strong time management and ability to meet strict deadlines and KPIs.
  • Ability to manage daily and monthly schedules proactively.
  • Attention to detail in admin, equipment handling and report quality checks.
