Requirements
- A PhD in Governance, Public Administration or Development Studies with relevant teaching, supervision and research experience and a sustained publication record in the specific area of governance, commensurate with the level of appointment.
- A relevant PhD in a cognate Social Science discipline such as Political Science or Sociology may be considered, provided the teaching and research record is demonstrably and primarily focused on concerns of governance.
- Demonstrated ability and portfolio of evidence in teaching across several areas in the discipline, in particular themes related to Political Economy and Development.
- For appointment at Associate Professor level, significant supervision experience and evidence of at least five graduated supervised PhD's and masters is required.
- For Senior Lecturer level, supervision experience at Masters level is required and PhD supervision will be advantageous.
- For the Associate Professor post, evidence of an independent and ongoing research programme, academic leadership, and successful grants external to the University is an advantage.
- Publications as first author in accredited journals in the last five years is a requirement for both levels of appointment. Evidence of policy work, briefings, conference papers and professional and community involvement in the field of policy is an advantage.
