Assistant Warehouse Manager

Duties & Responsibilities

• Must be   local to the area (Strand/Somerset West)   and able to reliably commute to the workplace.

• Open and lock up the factory/warehouse daily.

• Working hours:   06:45 – 18:00 .

• Monitor and record daily staff attendance for fortnightly-paid employees, including warehouse/factory staff and truck assistants.

• Conduct   daily stock counts   and ensure accurate stock records are maintained.

• Coordinate the   loading and unloading of trucks   in the mornings and evenings.

• Plan and coordinate the daily washing of containers/cans and ensure stock is replenished as required.

• Supervise warehouse staff and ensure that all employees complete their assigned duties.

• Monitor staff performance and address any issues relating to productivity, conduct or attendance.

• Ensure that basic workplace and labour legislation is adhered to.

• Maintain a   clean, tidy, organised and safe warehouse/factory environment   at all times.

• Assist with the planning and coordination of daily warehouse activities to ensure smooth operations.

• Identify operational issues and take initiative to resolve them where possible.

• Ensure that warehouse procedures and standards are consistently followed.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Previous experience in a   warehouse, factory, logistics or operations environment .

• Previous staff supervision or management experience will be advantageous.

• Excellent people and communication skills .

• Strong organisational and planning abilities.

• Ability to manage, motivate and hold staff accountable.

• Basic   Microsoft Excel   skills.

• Reliable, responsible and able to work independently.

• Able to work in a fast-paced and hands-on environment.

• Must be comfortable with the physical and operational demands of a warehouse environment.

Strong handyman and basic maintenance skills will be a major advantage.

A practical, problem-solving approach is essential.
