Our client is looking for a motivated and experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the overall management of the warehouse and ensure the efficient receiving, storage, picking, packing and dispatching of stock.
The successful candidate will assist in managing the warehouse team, maintaining accurate inventory levels, improving operational efficiency and ensuring that all warehouse activities are completed safely, accurately and on time.
This is a hands-on position suited to an individual who is comfortable working on the warehouse floor while also taking responsibility for administration, stock control and team performance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Warehouse Manager with the day-to-day running of the warehouse.
Supervise, motivate and manage warehouse staff and ensure productivity targets are achieved.
Coordinate the receiving, checking, storing, picking, packing and dispatching of stock.
Ensure all stock movements are accurately recorded and captured.
Maintain accurate inventory levels and investigate stock discrepancies.
Assist with regular and ad-hoc stock counts and reconciliations.
Ensure stock is stored correctly and efficiently, with appropriate rotation and identification.
Monitor FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable.
Ensure customer orders are picked and dispatched accurately and within required deadlines.
Coordinate loading and unloading activities.
Monitor warehouse housekeeping and ensure a clean and organised working environment.
Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
Assist with warehouse planning, space utilisation and stock organisation.
Monitor damaged, expired or slow-moving stock and escalate where necessary.
Liaise with production, procurement, sales, logistics and finance to ensure smooth stock flow.
Assist with transport and delivery coordination where required.
Monitor warehouse equipment and report maintenance requirements.
Assist with implementing and maintaining warehouse SOPs and processes.
Prepare daily/weekly warehouse reports and provide operational updates to management.
Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Previous experience in a warehouse supervisory or management role .
Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, distribution or a similar fast-moving environment would be advantageous.
Proven experience managing or supervising warehouse staff.
Strong understanding of stock control and inventory management .
Experience with receiving, picking, dispatch and warehouse operations.
Good understanding of FIFO/FEFO principles.
Strong administrative and organisational skills.
Computer literate, with experience using ERP/WMS systems .
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight operational deadlines.
Valid driver's licence would be advantageous.
Relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehouse Management or Operations would be advantageous.
