The above position will become vacant at the Cape Town branch directly reporting to the Warehouse Manager. The overall purpose of this position will be to assist in facilitating, manage and to ensure an efficient warehousing and distribution service with regards to all spheres of warehousing which includes, inter alia, stock management, distribution management and administration, supervising personnel, conducting stock takes etc.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key areas of responsibility will include
- Allocate and manage drivers to and from daily routes.
- Receive, process, and coordinate goods for delivery.
- Oversee the unloading of goods and conduct final checks against order documentation.
- Ensure accurate picking and safe packing of goods for delivery, including supervision of relevant personnel.
- Plan and manage warehouse layout, including stacking and storage of goods.
- Manage stock rotation and minimise shrinkage.
- Ensure lot number picking is followed and FIFO principles are applied.
- Plan, manage, and conduct stock takes, ensuring stock losses remain within acceptable limits.
- Maintain accurate stock records, including batch tracking during stock takes.
- Assist with inter-branch stock transfers.
- Manage and verify all returns, ensuring correct processing and transfer to relevant departments.
- Prepare write-off stock and transfer it to the designated disposal area.
- Oversee the receiving and unpacking of incoming stock.
- Ensure all drivers and warehouse staff adhere to operational procedures and safety requirements.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in good working condition and a safe working environment is upheld.
- Inspect machinery, equipment, and workplace conditions regularly.
- Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and used correctly.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation.
- Investigate complaints, incidents, and workplace accidents.
- Compile reports on inspections and incident investigations.
- Issue and act on infringement notices where required.
- Identify and address hazards, including fire risks, through regular inspections and daily Gemba walks.
- Verify proof of deliveries (PODs) from distribution personnel.
- Review and verify invoices from merchandising prior to dispatch.
- Verify credits processed by the administration department.
- Capture delivery notes and invoices accurately on the system.
- Liaise daily with the administration and stock departments regarding all relevant processes.
- Manage and coordinate employee administration, including timekeeping, leave, and overtime.
- Facilitate and arrange training for new employees relevant to the role.
- Provide guidance and input during Warehouse Leader Standard Work meetings.
- Organise daily cleaning schedules and housekeeping duties.
- Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are secured daily.
- Ensure alarm systems are activated when closing the warehouse.
- Monitor live CCTV footage as required.
- Manage and oversee rework activities within the warehouse.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 Matric and Certificate or Supply Management degree.
- At least 5 years’ management experience.
- Above average Computer literacy.
- Advanced experience Warehousing and distribution practises in large FMCG environment.
- No criminal record.
- Own reliable transport and valid Driver’s Licence is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates who reside in the Cape Town area.
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends, as required by operational needs.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain a valid forklift licence.
