My client, is searching for a strong Assistant Manager for a busy retail store in Paarl.
The Assistant Manager supports the Area Manager in the daily operation of the store, ensuring the achievement of sales targets, excellent customer service, and high operational standards. This role involves leading the team and driving performance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Store Operations & Performance
- Support the Area Manager in achieving sales targets and KPIs
- Assist with daily store operations, opening and closing procedures
- Analyze sales performance and implement action plans to improve results
- Ensure accurate cash handling and administration procedures
Customer Service
- Deliver and promote exceptional customer service at all times
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
- Lead by example on the sales floor to drive customer engagement
- Ensure a welcoming, clean, and well‑maintained store environment
Team Leadership & Management
- Assist with the recruitment, training, and development of staff
- Supervise and motivate the team to achieve individual and store goals
- Support performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes
- Assist with staff scheduling and attendance management
Visual Merchandising & Standards
- Ensure visual merchandising standards are consistently upheld
- Assist with floor changes, promotions, and new product launches
- Maintain housekeeping, safety, and brand standards throughout the store
Stock Control & Loss Prevention
- Support stock receiving, replenishment, and stockroom organization
- Assist with stock counts and investigations of variances
- Minimize shrinkage by following loss‑prevention procedures
Compliance & Policies
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations
- Support store audits and operational checks
- Act as Store Manager in their absence when required
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Previous experience in retail receiving, warehousing, or stock administration or stationery retail experience is an advantage
- Strong computer skills (e.g., POS / ERP systems, Excel)
- High attention to detail and strong accuracy
- Good communication and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Basic understanding of stock rotation and replenishment.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Package & Remuneration
Basic R12 000 per month
After probation period benefit of Pensioen fund contribution.
