- Implementation of a system intended to maintain and extend the monitoring of independent schools, private colleges, and private assessment bodies and reporting thereon, including, but not limited to: developing and maintaining a database for independent schools and private colleges
- Developing accreditation, monitoring and evaluation instruments and manuals
- Assisting in the development of accreditation and monitoring policies and procedures
- Generating and editing monitoring reports
- Planning and coordinating, site visits and reporting
- Arranging and facilitating workshops
- Establishing and maintaining sound relations with independent schools, private colleges and other relevant stakeholders
- Strong financial management
- Performing any other tasks that are reasonably assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- An appropriate recognised three- or four-year post-matric qualification in education.
- Current registration with the South African Council for Educators SACE.
- Hold a valid driver's license and have their own vehicle.
- At least three 3 years' middle management experience, preferably obtained between 2021 and 2026, in a school, college, or Quality Council environment.
Required Skills
The successful applicant must have proven understanding, knowledge and experience of:
- All pieces of legislation that inform Umalusi's work as a Quality Council
- The uniqueness of independent schools and private colleges
- The differentiated role of assessment bodies
- Accreditation, monitoring and evaluation systems and processes
- Good verbal and written English communication and report writing skills
- Sound training and facilitation skills
- Project management, coordination, and strong administration skills.
The successful applicant must
- Be dynamic, self-motivated and self-managing
- Have the ability to work under pressure as an individual and in a team
- Be willing to travel regularly and extensively and also to work extra hours
- and/or after hours
- Have the ability to work within tight timelines and
- Have extensive computer literacy skills Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
Added Advantage
- A post-graduate qualification in education will be an added advantage.
- Experience as an Umalusi Subject Specialist / Evaluator dealing with evaluation and monitoring of private education institutions will be an added advantage.
