Start free — we apply for you →Role Purpose The Assistant Manager will support the operational management and strategic growth of the Audit Support Centre (ASC). The role is responsible for supervising and reviewing audit support work, managing workflow and resources, maintaining quality standards, coaching and developing junior staff and interns, and acting as a key liaison between the ASC and audit engagement teams. The Assistant Manager will play a critical role in ensuring efficient service delivery, consistency of output, and the continued success of the Centre. Reporting Line Reports to: Department Leader and Senior Manager Key Responsibilities Operational Management Assist in the day-to-day management of the Audit Support Centre. Monitor workflow, capacity and deadlines across all ASC engagements. Assist with resource planning to ensure optimal utilisation of ASC staff. Coordinate the assignment of work to interns and junior team members. Provide regular status updates and feedback to audit engagement teams on ASC assignments. Monitor turnaround times and service levels provided to audit engagement teams. Review and Quality Control Perform detailed reviews of work completed by ASC team members. Ensure all work complies with BDO methodology, auditing standards, firm policies, and engagement instructions. Identify and resolve technical and quality matters on a timely basis. Monitor recurring findings and implement corrective actions to improve quality and efficiency. Maintain quality metrics and provide feedback to management on performance trends. Team Leadership and Development Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and mentoring to interns and junior staff. Facilitate on-the-job training and technical development initiatives. Support performance management processes, including regular feedback and development discussions. Assist with onboarding and integration of new team members. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team culture. Stakeholder Management Serve as a primary point of contact between the Audit Support Centre and audit engagement teams. Build strong relationships with engagement managers and partners. Ensure requests are clearly understood, appropriately scoped, and delivered within agreed timelines. Escalate resource constraints, technical matters, and operational risks where necessary. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, standardisation, and scalability of ASC processes. Assist with the development and implementation of new service offerings. Contribute to initiatives aimed at expanding the utilisation of the Audit Support Centre across the business. Participate in developing templates, training materials, and best-practice guidance. Financial and Operational Reporting Monitor utilisation, recoverability, and productivity metrics. Assist in tracking revenue and performance against budgets. Prepare management information and operational reports for ASC leadership. Support business cases for additional resources and growth initiatives.
