Start free — we apply for you →Job Title: ASSISTANT LODGE MANAGER COUPLE Start Date: 2026-08-20 - 2026-09-19 Vacancy Type: Permanent JHB003462 Sectors: Hospitality Location: Limpopo , Hoedspruit Salary: (Market related) Brief: We are seeking a professional and experienced Assistant Lodge Manager Couple to assist with the day-to-day management and smooth operation of a luxury safari lodge. The couple will work closely together while each taking responsibility for their respective areas of expertise. One partner will be responsible for Front Office and Guest Relations , while the other will take responsibility for Guiding and Safari Operations . Both individuals will be expected to support overall lodge operations and deliver an exceptional guest experience. PARTNER 1: FRONT OFFICE MANAGER Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operations of the lodge's front office and reception. Ensure a warm, professional and personalised welcome for all guests. Manage guest check-ins, check-outs, payments and departures. Handle guest requests, queries, complaints and special arrangements professionally. Maintain accurate guest records and reservation information. Coordinate guest activities, transfers, meals and special occasions. Liaise with housekeeping, kitchen, guiding and maintenance departments. Monitor guest satisfaction and proactively resolve any concerns. Assist with staff coordination, training and supervision. Maintain high standards of service and presentation throughout the lodge. Assist with lodge administration, reporting and daily operational requirements. Communicate effectively with management and reservations teams. Assist the Lodge Manager with general lodge management duties when required. Ensure all lodge policies, procedures and health and safety standards are followed. PARTNER 2: FIELD GUIDE Key Responsibilities Conduct daily game drives and guided safari activities. Provide guests with informative and engaging interpretations of wildlife, fauna, flora and conservation. Ensure all game drives and activities are conducted safely and professionally. Deliver personalised and memorable safari experiences. Maintain excellent knowledge of the reserve and surrounding area. Conduct bush walks where appropriately qualified and authorised. Assist with guest transfers and other lodge-related driving requirements. Ensure safari vehicles and guiding equipment are clean, safe and well maintained. Conduct vehicle checks before and after drives. Maintain accurate records and report any incidents or maintenance concerns. Assist with conservation and reserve-related activities. Build strong relationships with guests and provide exceptional service. Assist other lodge departments when required. Support the Front Office Manager and Lodge Manager with overall lodge operations. Detail: PARTNER 1: FRONT OFFICE MANAGER Requirements Previous experience in a Front Office, Guest Relations or Lodge Management position. Previous experience in a luxury lodge or hospitality environment is highly advantageous. Hospitality qualification would be advantageous. Strong computer and administration skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Professional telephone and email etiquette. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail. Passion for hospitality and guest service. Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. Valid driver's licence advantageous/required depending on lodge requirements PARTNER 2: FIELD GUIDE Requirements Relevant FGASA qualification appropriate to the position. Valid First Aid certificate . Valid driver's licence. PDP advantageous/required depending on lodge requirements. Previous experience as a Field Guide in a private game reserve or luxury safari lodge. Strong knowledge of South African wildlife, fauna, flora and conservation. Excellent guest communication and presentation skills. Passion for wildlife, conservation and hospitality. Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors. Professional, confident and safety-conscious. Good interpersonal and storytelling skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays. COUPLE – JOINT RESPONSIBILITIES Support the Lodge Manager with the overall smooth running of the lodge. Maintain excellent guest service standards at all times. Work together to ensure effective communication between lodge departments. Assist with staff supervision and operational coordination. Participate in lodge functions, guest activities and special events. Assist with stock control and general lodge administration where required. Promote a positive working environment amongst staff. Ensure company policies, lodge standards and health and safety procedures are maintained. Act as professional ambassadors for the lodge and its brand. Be flexible and willing to assist outside of their primary roles when operationally required. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal couple will be hands-on, energetic, professional and guest-focused , with a genuine passion for luxury hospitality and the safari industry. They should work well as a team, demonstrate strong leadership abilities and be comfortable living and working together in a remote lodge environment.
