Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12.
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Animal Production, Poultry Production, or a related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership type of role within the broiler breeder sphere.
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
- Computer literacy MS Office.
- Good communication, leadership, and people management skills.
- Proficiency in English is essential in this position
- Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and after-hours when operationally required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Farm Manager with the daily management of farm operations.
- Manage all production related activities ensuring consistent compliance with standard operating procedures in order to achieve optimal production output efficiencies.
- Strong analytical skills relating to breeder technical aspects.
- Supervise, coach, and develop farm employees.
- Monitor bird health, welfare, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with biosecurity, hygiene, animal welfare, and food safety standards.
- Monitor feed, water, lighting, ventilation, and environmental conditions.
- Assist with production planning and achieving production targets.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports.
- Monitor stock levels and control the use of farm consumables and equipment.
- Ensure farm equipment and facilities are maintained and report maintenance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Assist with staff attendance, leave administration, and performance management.
- Attending to HR/IR matters i.e. planning leave, time sheets, disciplinary measures, interviews etc.
- Stand in for the Farm Manager during periods of absence.
