Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12.
  • Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Animal Production, Poultry Production, or a related field will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership type of role within the broiler breeder sphere.
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
  • Computer literacy MS Office.
  • Good communication, leadership, and people management skills.
  • Proficiency in English is essential in this position
  • Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and after-hours when operationally required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Farm Manager with the daily management of farm operations.
  • Manage all production related activities ensuring consistent compliance with standard operating procedures in order to achieve optimal production output efficiencies.
  • Strong analytical skills relating to breeder technical aspects.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop farm employees.
  • Monitor bird health, welfare, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with biosecurity, hygiene, animal welfare, and food safety standards.
  • Monitor feed, water, lighting, ventilation, and environmental conditions.
  • Assist with production planning and achieving production targets.
  • Maintain accurate production records and reports.
  • Monitor stock levels and control the use of farm consumables and equipment.
  • Ensure farm equipment and facilities are maintained and report maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Assist with staff attendance, leave administration, and performance management.
  • Attending to HR/IR matters i.e. planning leave, time sheets, disciplinary measures, interviews etc.
  • Stand in for the Farm Manager during periods of absence.
