- National Diploma NQF6 in Forestry or Natural Resource Management or relevant qualification within the related field as recognized by SAQA. A minimum of three 3 years' experience in Forestry Management / Commercial Forestry or related field.
- Knowledge and understanding in the application of the National Forest Act 1998 Act 84 of 1998, National Veld and Forest Fire Act NVFFA, National Environmental Management Act 1998 Act 107 of 1998 and NEMBA including regulations and policies regulating Natural Resources. Policies impacting on the forestry sector.
- Knowledge of Enumeration for data collection. Knowledge of Financial Management. Knowledge and understanding of stakeholder engagement. A Valid Driving License and Willingness to travel.
Duties
- Facilitate and coordinate the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the Sustainable Forest Management SFM business processes.
- Facilitate and implement strategies for technical forest management support service in the province. Facilitate and provide support to the development, review and implementation of the forest growth and yield model for commercial forest plantations.
- Provide support in the monitoring and assessment of state forest plantations in the region against the principles, criteria and indicators of sustainable forest management, including the implementation of policy and regulations. Monitor the implementation of risk mitigation plans for the state forest plantations in the region.
- Provide support in the development and strengthening of human resource capacity, technical capacity and cooperation at a regional level to ensure implementation of appropriate legislation for the management of forests.
- Facilitate the creation of work opportunities through the EPWP. Provide support to the liaison Forums within the sector. Participate in the forestry provincial development forums and development initiatives by other sector organisations.
