Are you passionate about mechanics and eager to grow your technical skills in a fast-paced operational environment? We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Assistant Diesel Mechanic to join our Cape Town Logistics team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with mechanical experience who is looking to develop their career while working alongside experienced professionals and gaining exposure to fleet and equipment maintenance operations
Duties & Responsibilities
As an Assistant Diesel Mechanic, you will
- Assist experienced mechanics with preventative maintenance and servicing activities.
- Perform basic fault-finding and diagnostics under the guidance of senior mechanics.
- Conduct oil, filter, and fluid changes while adhering to safety and environmental standards.
- Perform routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify potential maintenance issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment.
- Complete maintenance records and worksheets accurately and timeously.
- Assist with minor repairs and general workshop duties as required.
- Support operational requirements, including standby duties, shifts, and flexible working hours when needed.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport are essential and non negotiable
- Technical training in Diesel Mechanics or a related field would be advantageous.
- Minimum 1 year's experience in a workshop or mechanical environment.
- Electrical experience will be advantageous.
- Sound understanding of mechanical principles and safe working practices.
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work shifts and standby when required.
- A positive attitude with a desire to learn and develop.
