Start free — we apply for you →- We are seeking an organised, passionate Assistant Catering Manager to support the effective delivery of our catering services. The Assistant Catering Manager plays a key role in ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and that residents receive high-quality meals that meet their dietary needs. You will support the Catering Manager in daily operations, staff supervision, menu planning, food safety compliance, and maintaining high service standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Catering Manager with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen
- Supervise catering and kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflows and teamwork
- Support menu planning, including special diets, allergies, and resident preferences
- Ensure all meals are prepared to high nutritional and presentation standards
- Oversee stock control, ordering, deliveries, and cost management
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations
- Assist with staff training and performance development
- Create a positive, respectful, and resident-focused food service environment
Skills and Competencies
- Experienced in catering, hospitality, or a similar environment care facility experience advantageous
- Strong in team leadership and communication
- Knowledgeable about food safety and hygiene regulations
- Passionate about serving older adults with dignity and care
- Organised, proactive, and able to work well under pressure
- Creative in problem-solving and adaptable to changing needs
Qualifications
- Must have completed at least a National Senior Certificate
- Relevant tertiary qualification in hospitality – advantageous
- 2 years' experience in the catering on a supervisory level
