- Coca-Cola Beverages Africa CCBA presents an exciting opportunity for a Asset Owner : Packaging Line Inspection & Coding to join the Midrand team at CCBA. The role will report to the Engineering Technical Manager.
Key Purpose
- To provide end-to-end ownership of packaging line assets by ensuring accurate asset inspection and coding, effective lifecycle management, reliability improvement, risk mitigation, and compliance with safety and quality standards, while driving sustainable asset performance and operational excellence across high-speed beverage packaging operations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Key Outcomes
Asset Performance and Reliability Management
- Monitor the condition and performance of assigned assets using KPIs and maintenance records.
- Implement strategies to improve equipment uptime, reduce failure rates, and optimise OEE Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
- Drive RCFA for recurring failures and develop sustainable corrective actions.
Asset Lifecycle and Strategy Development
- Develop and maintain asset lifecycle plans, incorporating refurbishment, replacement, or upgrade strategies.
- Define and optimise maintenance strategies Preventive, Predictive, and Condition-Based Maintenance aligned with asset criticality.
- Ensure accurate asset master data, technical specifications, and Bills of Materials BOMs in SAP.
Technical Support and Continuous Improvement
- Provide expert technical support to maintenance teams during breakdowns, shutdowns, and overhauls.
- Champion CI initiatives to improve equipment design, reliability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with CI and Process Engineering teams to execute modifications or upgrades.
Asset Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify critical assets and apply risk-based methods to prioritise resource allocation.
- Ensure all equipment under ownership complies with safety, quality, environmental, and statutory regulations.
- Maintain records of asset inspections, certifications, and engineering change management.
Cross-Functional Engagement and Reporting
- Serve as the single point of accountability for performance of designated assets.
- Interface with Production, Reliability, Projects, and Engineering teams to align on asset plans and interventions.
- Provide monthly reporting on asset health, interventions, performance metrics, and cost impacts.
Skills, Experience & Education Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Mechatronics Engineering
- Asset Management certification e.g., CMRP, IAM is advantageous
Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing or bottling environment
- Solid experience with asset care practices, TPM/RCM methodologies
- Asset inspection and coding for high-speed beverage packaging lines
- Proven track record in equipment failure analysis and performance improvement
- Exposure to CAPEX projects, technical audits, and asset upgrades is beneficial
Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems and maintenance processes
- Proficiency in SAP PM and ability to manage asset-related master data
- Competence in conducting RCFA, FMEA, and reliability analytics
- Working knowledge of EHS and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing context
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Familiarity with CI tools Kaizen, 5 Why's, A3 Thinking and OEE analytics platforms
