The Asset Care Engineer is responsible for improving the safety, reliability, availability and life-cycle performance of assets. The role develops and governs asset-care strategies, maintenance plans, reliability programmes and condition monitoring practices to ensure equipment performs at the required level and at an optimised life-cycle cost
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for improving the safety, reliability, availability and life-cycle performance of assets
Developing and maintaining asset-care strategies
Ensuring critical assets have approved maintenance and condition-monitoring plans
Monitoring equipment health and escalating unacceptable operational risks
Improving reliability, availability, maintenance cost and equipment life
Eliminating repeat failures through effective root-cause analysis
Producing weekly and monthly asset-maintenance reports
Tracking reliability-improvement actions through to verified completion
Ensuring technical changes follow the management-of-change process
Coordinating OEMs, contractors and specialist reliability service providers
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications and failure data
Knowledge of mining safety requirements and engineering standards
Desired Experience & Qualification
National Diploma / bachelor’s degree in electrical / mechanical / industrial engineering
Government Certificate of Competency will be an advantage
- Certificate in Asset Maintenance / Management or Reliability Centred Maintenance
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, maintenance-management systems and Project management training.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant engineering or maintenance experience in asset-intensive environment.
- Practical experience in reliability improvement, maintenance strategy development, root-cause analysis, condition monitoring and CMMS data analysis.
- Experience with trackless mobile machinery, winders, pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors, rail-bound equipment and processing-plant assets,
- Working knowledge of CMMS / EAM systems such as SAP PM, Pragma, Maximo, dMS or Delta
- Strong fault-finding and analytical capability.
- Competence in RCA, Pareto analysis, FMEA / FMECA and criticality analysis
- Understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling principles
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Willingness to work underground and respond to major equipment failures when required

Candidate will be required to undergo a medical examination of fitness as per the Mine’s requirements.
