  • The purpose of this position is to perform electro-mechanical maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on plant equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting safe and efficient production operations in compliance with engineering, safety, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Trade tested Millwright
  • N Levels in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering OR National Diploma in Engineering

Technical experience

  • Electrical – VSD, Motors, Lighting, Generators, HVACS, Blowers, Fault finding. Mechanical – Gearbox, Pumps, Flanges, Seals, Fabrication
  • Steam reticulation – Steam pumps, PRV, Safety valves, Steam traps, Condensate Air reticulation – Compressors, receivers, Air dryers
  • Water reticulation – Pumps, control valves, Glycol systems, Chill water system Effluent/Sewer knowledge – Submersible pumps, flow meters, Jetting, and rodding
  • High Speed Machinery, Packaging machinery, PLC, SCADA, Fault finding, Pneumatic & Electrical controls Civils and building maintenance – Carpentry, Tiling, Painting, Building, Plumbing
  • Toolbox
  • 3+ yrs experience in applying technical concepts in a food Manufacturing plant
  • Willing to work overtime, shifts and do standby duties if necessary
  • Willing to work in extreme conditions
  • Willing to work in confined spaces

Duties and Responsibilities

Assemble, install, test and maintain any mechanical and electrical equipment

  • Maintain and repair of plant and equipment to ensure optimal reliability and availability
  • Conduct fault-finding and analysis of machine condition and failures
  • Perform root cause analysis on processing equipment
  • Optimize machines with pro-active approach to continuous improvement
  • Perform root cause analysis on steam, refrigeration and water equipment
  • Provide technical and specialist support to the maintenance and production team

Conduct ad-hoc activities

  • Inspect and test equipment as per prescribed ELKE schedule
  • Complete job cards and update records
  • Increase machine availability
  • Do modifications
  • Ensure that all process control software is backed up and kept up to date
  • Participate in Way Better teams
