We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer – Warehouse Optimisation to join a dynamic engineering team responsible for developing innovative solutions that improve warehouse efficiency, material flow, storage capacity and operational performance. The successful candidate will combine engineering knowledge, analytical thinking and customer-facing skills to understand warehouse challenges, develop optimised solutions and support projects from concept through implementation. Duties & Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer – Warehouse Optimisation to join a dynamic engineering team responsible for developing innovative solutions that improve warehouse efficiency, material flow, storage capacity and operational performance. The successful candidate will combine engineering knowledge, analytical thinking and customer-facing skills to understand warehouse challenges, develop optimised solutions and support projects from concept through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse warehouse layouts, material flows, storage requirements and operational processes.

• Develop warehouse optimisation concepts and engineering solutions.

• Design and optimise material handling, storage and warehouse systems .

• Conduct capacity, throughput and space-utilisation assessments.

• Prepare layouts, process flows, technical proposals and solution concepts.

• Evaluate customer requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.

• Perform system calculations, modelling and feasibility assessments where required.

• Develop technical and commercial proposals in collaboration with sales and project teams.

• Engage with customers to understand operational challenges and recommend improvements.

• Support the selection and integration of warehouse equipment and material-handling systems.

• Work closely with design, automation, project management and operations teams.

• Assist with project costing, equipment specifications and technical documentation.

• Participate in site assessments, surveys, commissioning and implementation activities.

• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, safety, space utilisation and overall warehouse performance.

• Stay informed of developments in warehouse automation, intralogistics and material-handling technology.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Logistics Engineering or a related field.

• 3–5+ years’ experience in applications engineering, warehouse optimisation, material handling, logistics or a related engineering environment.

• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, material flow and storage principles.

• Experience with warehouse layouts, material-handling systems and optimisation projects .

• Proficiency in relevant engineering/design software; experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar would be advantageous.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, layouts and engineering data.

• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.

• Ability to prepare professional technical reports and presentations.

• A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to customer and project sites.

Advantageous Experience

• Warehouse automation and intralogistics .

• Conveyors, sortation systems, racking, picking systems or automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS).

• WMS, WCS or warehouse automation interfaces.

• Simulation, modelling or data-analysis tools.

• Lean manufacturing, process optimisation or continuous improvement.

• Experience working on engineering projects from concept through implementation.

• Exposure to mining, manufacturing, FMCG, distribution or industrial environments.
