ADT Dump Truck Driver

Introduction

An Engineering company is looking to hire an ADT Dump Truck Driver.

Duties & Responsibilities

An Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) Driver operates heavy-duty vehicles used to transport soil, rock, coal, ore and other materials on mining, construction and earthmoving sites.

• Conduct pre-start inspections, including tyres, brakes, steering, lights, fluid levels and safety equipment.

• Operate the ADT safely according to site procedures and manufacturer guidelines.

• Transport materials between loading, stockpile and dumping areas.

• Position the truck correctly and communicate clearly with excavator and loader operators.

• Ensure loads are properly distributed and do not exceed the truck’s capacity.

• Travel at safe speeds based on road, weather, load and site conditions.

• Dump materials only in designated areas and confirm that the ground is stable before tipping.

• Maintain a safe following distance and obey traffic signs and site instructions.

• Monitor gauges, warning lights and vehicle performance during operation.

• Immediately report defects, breakdowns, accidents and unsafe conditions.

• Complete daily inspection sheets, production records and logbooks accurately.

• Perform basic cleaning and routine operator-level maintenance.

• Follow all health, safety and environmental requirements.

• Wear the required personal protective equipment.

• Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments and safety meetings.

• Assist with emergency procedures when required.

• Meet production targets without compromising safety or equipment.

• Protect the vehicle from misuse, unnecessary idling and avoidable damage.

• Maintain effective communication with supervisors, dispatchers and other equipment operators.

Desired Experience & Qualification

ADT Operator Certificate
