Introduction

Location:  Sterkspruit, Eastern Cape

Position:  Full-time, On-site

Reporting to:  Store Manager

Direct Reports:  Cashier Team

Salary:  Market-related

THE ROLE

Our reputable client in the Meat Retail sector is looking for an experienced Administration Manager, for their established operations in Sterkspruit,  to take ownership of the branch's cash office, administration, financial controls and operational reporting .

This is a hands-on management position requiring a high level of integrity, numerical accuracy, organisation and accountability .

The successful candidate will also lead and supervise the cashier team, ensuring that front-end operations are secure, disciplined and customer-focused.

WORKING HOURS

This is an on-site retail position .

The successful candidate must be available for

  • Monday–Saturday retail hours
  • Rostered Sundays and public holidays
  • Extended hours when required for month-end processes, stock-takes and operational requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Cash Office & Cashier Management

  • Lead, roster, train and supervise the cashier team.
  • Oversee till operations, cash-ups, floats, change and banking.
  • Maintain effective cash-office controls and ensure adherence to SOPs.
  • Investigate cash shortages, overages and other irregularities.
  • Maintain appropriate security and control over cash and related documentation.
  • Address performance and disciplinary matters within the scope of the role.

2. Stock & Supplier Administration

  • Ensure accurate processing and filing of GRVs, supplier invoices, stock transfers, returns and wastage.
  • Maintain stock-take and variance records.
  • Investigate administrative stock discrepancies and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Reconcile supplier statements with internal records and resolve outstanding documentation.

3. Financial Controls & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate financial and operational records supporting branch controls.
  • Oversee petty cash and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and month-end management reports.
  • Maintain audit-ready filing and document-control systems.
  • Maintain the branch Management Action Register and monitor outstanding actions.
  • Identify and escalate material discrepancies or control weaknesses.

4. HR Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records for the cashier team and other branch administration.
  • Monitor attendance, leave, overtime and relevant employee documentation.
  • Coordinate HR administration with the Store Manager and Group HR support.
  • Maintain branch compliance registers, including licenses, certificates, OH&S and food-safety documentation.
  • Monitor renewal dates and escalate compliance risks to management.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Essential

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • 3–5 years' relevant administration experience  in a fast-paced retail, FMCG, wholesale or QSR environment.
  • Proven experience supervising a cashier/front-end team.
  • Practical experience managing a cash office and daily cash-ups.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
  • Experience with cash controls, banking, reconciliations and shortage/variance investigation.
  • Strong numerical and administrative ability.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within established procedures.
  • A firm, fair and professional approach to team management.

Advantageous

  • Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, HR or a related field.
  • Experience with Arch Retail, SAP or similar retail/POS systems.
  • Experience in stock administration and retail financial controls.
