We are seeking talented South African actuarial professionals to join our growing team and support international insurance clients across the UK, USA, Canada and Australia.

This is an exciting opportunity for actuarial analysts and recently qualified actuaries with experience in life insurance or general/short-term insurance . You will gain valuable international exposure while working on meaningful actuarial projects across areas such as valuation, pricing, reserving, capital modelling and regulatory reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform actuarial analysis and provide technical support to international insurance and reinsurance clients.
  • Support actuarial projects across areas such as valuation, pricing, reserving, capital modelling and financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Analyse and interpret actuarial, financial and claims data to support business and client requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation, review and maintenance of actuarial models, calculations and reports.
  • Support projects relating to IFRS 17, Solvency and other applicable international regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct experience investigations, data analysis and other technical actuarial work, depending on the candidate’s area of specialisation.
  • Work with actuarial and business teams to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and international clients.
  • Use relevant actuarial and analytical tools, including Excel and other modelling, statistical or programming software.
  • Manage assigned work independently while maintaining accuracy, quality and adherence to agreed deadlines.
  • Continuously develop technical and professional knowledge in line with actuarial exam progress and industry developments.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative field.
  • 1–7 years' relevant actuarial experience within the insurance, reinsurance, consulting or financial services environment.
  • Candidates should be actively progressing towards professional actuarial qualification through the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) or an equivalent recognised professional body, or be recently qualified.
  • Practical experience within either life insurance or general/short-term insurance is essential.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: actuarial valuations, pricing, reserving, capital modelling, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, IFRS 17, SAM or reinsurance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; VBA experience will be advantageous.
  • Experience with actuarial, statistical or programming tools such as Prophet, GGY AXIS, SAS, R or Python will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within strict deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with international clients and teams.
  • Suitable remote working environment, including reliable internet connectivity and appropriate power backup.
