Lead Accounts Payable Excellence
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join their finance team in Cape Town. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will oversee an Accounts Payable team, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing, reconciliations, payment execution, month-end close, and effective team supervision.
The successful candidate will thrive in a high-volume environment and bring strong leadership, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily activities across the Accounts Payable team.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices.
- Review GL coding and Accounts Payable entries for accuracy.
- Manage weekly and monthly payment runs.
- Handle supplier, vendor, and trade-related queries.
- Review and approve supplier reconciliations.
- Ensure timely Accounts Payable month-end close.
- Liaise with Procurement, Banking, IT Finance, and internal stakeholders.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Accounts Payable staff.
- Work closely with IT Finance to improve system effectiveness and efficiency.
- Ensure queries are resolved within agreed timeframes.
- Monitor and achieve departmental KPIs.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors as required.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Matric plus a relevant Finance qualification.
- 3–5 years' Accounts Payable supervisory experience.
- Strong Oracle Financials experience.
- Strong understanding of supplier reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Experience handling and resolving supplier queries accurately and efficiently.
- Experience coordinating Accounts Payable month-end activities.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Proven supervisory and team leadership experience.
Advantageous
- Experience within a retail finance environment.
- Experience working within a high-volume Accounts Payable function.
- Exposure to multi-entity environments.
