Key Responsibilities: 1. Accounts Payable Management Review and approve supplier invoices for processing. Ensure invoices are correctly allocated to the appropriate cost centres. Verify that all supporting documentation and approvals are in place before payment. Monitor supplier accounts and resolve queries or discrepancies. Prepare and oversee creditor payment runs. 2. Financial Controls and Compliance Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures. Implement and maintain internal financial controls. Monitor adherence to approval limits and authorization procedures. Ensure VAT is correctly captured and accounted for in accordance with legislation. 3. Reconciliations Review and approve creditor reconciliations. Investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly. 4. Month-End and Year-End Processes Assist with month-end closing procedures. Review accruals, prepayments. Ensure all transactions are captured accurately and timeously. Support external auditors during annual audits. 5. Reporting Prepare and analyse accounts payable reports. Monitor upcoming payment obligations. Provide management with accurate financial information and insights. Report on outstanding supplier balances. 6. Team Supervision and Support Supervise and guide accounts payable staff. Provide training on financial procedures and systems. Monitor team performance and ensure deadlines are met. Assist with resolving escalated supplier queries. 7. System and Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies. Ensure accounting systems are maintained and used correctly. Assist with system implementations and upgrades where required. Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs). QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE National Diploma, Higher Certificate, or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, or a related commercial field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high-volume Accounts Payable, Creditors, or Senior Financial Accounting environment. Practical experience managing end-to-end creditors functions, month-end closing procedures, and audit readiness. Proficiency in using accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is crucial. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe essential. Sound knowledge of Accounts Payable workflow systems in software such as Xero, Simple, SAP, Pastel and OCR technology. Effective communication skills are necessary for interacting with internal teams and external vendors. This includes written and verbal communication skills. Effective time management is important for meeting deadlines, managing multiple tasks, and ensuring timely processing of payments.
