Duties & Responsibilities
Job Purpose
To ensure the provision of high-quality financial accounting services and manage all financial transactions from fixed payments, variable expenses, and payroll to bank deposits and budgets. Provide the company with accurate quantatiive information on the financial position, liquidity, and cash flows and make sure that the company is complying with tax regulations
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all accounting transactions accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Prepare and publish monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements within prescribed deadlines.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including all statutory submissions.
- Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts.
- Process and monitor timely bank payments and cash flow requirements.
- Calculate taxes, prepare tax returns, and ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.
- Monitor and report on the company's financial performance, cash flow, and liquidity.
- Audit financial transactions and support documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, accounting standards, and statutory regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal financial controls and processes.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including asset acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and periodic asset verification.
- Assist with internal and external audits and provide the required financial information and supporting documentation.
- Prepare management reports and provide financial analysis to support business decision-making.
- Perform any other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned by management.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualification
- Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in accounting or equivalent
- Completed Articles and Professional registration with SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, or ACCA will be advantageous.
- ESSENTIAL: Experience in the manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of costing, inventory control, and budgeting
Minimum Requirements
- 5 years or more experience in Accountant Role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Pastel and any accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict reporting deadlines
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Experience with statutory submissions and external audits.
