Accountant - QSR - Newlands East, Durban. Duties & Responsibilities
Our reputable QSR / Retail client, is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join their Finance team based at their Head Office in Newlands East, KwaZulu-Natal.
Purpose of the Role The successful candidate will play a key role in providing financial analysis and business insights that support strategic decision-making across multiple business entities. Working closely with operational and senior management teams, the Accountant will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, monthly management reporting, variance analysis, and maintaining inter-company accounts. The role requires a commercially minded finance professional who can independently analyse financial performance, identify trends, and provide meaningful recommendations that drive business growth.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications - Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related qualification. - SAIPA / CIMA studies (advantageous).
Experience - 2–5 years' experience as an Accountant or in a similar finance role. - Previous experience within a Retail, FMCG or QSR environment is highly advantageous. - Experience managing multiple entities. - Strong experience with inter-company accounts. - Proven experience with: o Monthly management reporting o Variance analysis o Budgeting o Forecasting o Financial analysis - Experience using Sage 200 or a similar ERP system. - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports. - Perform detailed variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance. - Assist with the preparation and management of annual budgets and regular forecasts. - Analyse operational and financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities. - Manage financial reporting across approximately 5–6 business entities. - Reconcile and maintain inter-company accounts. - Partner with operational managers to provide financial guidance and commercial insights. - Prepare reports and presentations for senior management. - Support month-end and year-end reporting processes. - Ensure financial information is accurate, complete and submitted within deadlines. - Assist in improving financial processes and reporting efficiencies. - Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business.
