Our client, an Accounting firm based in Johannesburg, seeks an experienced Accountant to work remotely.  You will be responsible for carrying out the full financial function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting business decision-making through financial analysis. Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role.

• Strong knowledge of IFRS / IFRS for SMEs.

• Completed articles (SAICA / SAIPA preferred).

• Must have Xero & Pastel experience.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close Process

• Prepare and post all month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, payroll, financing charges).

• Ensure all transactions for the month are completely and accurately recorded.

• Review trial balance for completeness and accuracy.

• Process monthly payroll for clients.

• Prepare VAT for client review.

• Prepare monthly accounts pack (income statement/balance sheet/tax provisions).

• UIF and ROE submissions (beneficial) .

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

• Bank accounts.

• Trade receivables and payables.

• VAT reconciliations.

• Maintain fixed assets (depreciation, additions, disposals).

• Payroll accounts (PAYE, UIF, SDL).

• Tax computations.

• Reconcile intercompany loan accounts.

• Prepare amortisation schedules for financed assets and lease liabilities.

SARS Submissions and Tax

• Reconcile and submit bi-annual and annual EMP501.

• Attend to preparation for SARS verifications (Income tax, PAYE, VAT & Provisional tax).

• Handle SARS submissions (VAT201, EMP201).

Computer literacy should include the following

• Xero & Pastel (is a must)

• QuickBooks

• Simple Pay

• SARS e-filling

• Sage Online

• Excel
