Accountant/ Senior Bookkeeper

Introduction

DESCO Electronic Recyclers is a Kempton Park–based business committed to responsible electronic waste recycling and environmental sustainability. We are looking for a hardworking, reliable and motivated Accountant to take ownership of the financial management of the company and its group entities, reporting directly to the Directors.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial management of the company

• Overall financial management, reporting to Directors

• Preparation and review of monthly management accounts

• Cash flow management, forecasting and budgeting

• Ownership of accounting records (XERO) across group entities

• Oversight of inter-company loan accounts and Mayday balancing

• Oversight of VAT submissions, SARS matters and statutory compliance

• Review of the fixed asset register and depreciation

• Oversight of petty cash controls across all 3 branches

• Managing, training and developing the Finance Department

• Reviewing finance team work to catch errors before submission

• Approving supplier payments and invoicing for major clients

• Liaison with external auditors on Annual Financial Statements

• Liaison with bank and insurance broker

• Ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested by Directors

Statutory work performed for Directors and company entities

• Filing of CIPC Annual Returns

• Filing of Trust UBO (beneficial ownership)

• Filing of Provisional Taxes

• Filing of Income Tax Returns

• Filing of VAT 201 (Desco and other entities)

• Individual Income Tax Returns

• Bookkeeping

• Tax Clearance Certificates

• Upskilling / training

Desired Experience & Qualification

• 10 years' accounting experience, ideally in a group/multi-entity environment

• Strong working knowledge of XERO

• Solid SARS, VAT and statutory compliance experience

• Comfortable using AI tools to improve reporting and efficiency
