Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing daily accounting operations, ensuring statutory compliance, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the overall financial health of the business. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with strong Sage Accounting expertise and a solid understanding of South African tax and regulatory requirements. Duties & Responsibilities Process daily accounting transactions in Sage Accounting. Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate accounting records. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports. Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures. Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and timeously. Prepare and submit PAYE, UIF, and SDL returns. Assist with provisional tax and corporate income tax compliance. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies. Maintain and update the fixed asset register. Ensure compliance with South African accounting standards and tax legislation. Liaise with SARS, auditors, banks, and external service providers when required. Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and controls. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. Perform additional finance and accounting duties as required by the business. Minimum Requirements Qualifications Matric / Grade 12. A 3-year Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience 3 to 5 years' proven accounting experience in a similar role. Experience within a similar industry will be advantageous. Strong knowledge of financial management principles, accounting practices, and regulations. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Practical experience with Sage Accounting is essential. Hands-on experience with SARS e-Filing and tax submissions is essential. Proven working knowledge of: VAT PAYE UIF SDL Corporate Income Tax Skills & Competencies Sound understanding of South African accounting principles and tax legislation. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Ethical, dependable, and professional work ethic. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
