ACCOUNTANT – ACCOUNTING FIRM
Location: Pretoria Salary: R15,000 – R25,000 per month, depending on qualifications, knowledge and experience
POSITION OVERVIEW
An established accounting firm in Pretoria is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of accounting clients and providing accurate, timely accounting and statutory support. This role would suit an individual with 2–4 years’ experience within an accounting environment , who has a strong understanding of accounting principles and enjoys working in a professional, client-focused environment. Duties & Responsibilities
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma or relevant Certificate in Accounting or Finance, or currently studying towards a relevant qualification.
- 2–4 years’ experience within an accounting environment, preferably within an accounting practice.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office , particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience with accounting and financial software such as Sage, Xero, Syft, Draftworx or similar platforms.
- Strong ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare accurate annual financial statements and management reports .
- Perform bank, debtors, creditors and other relevant account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
- Process, review and post accounting transactions and journals.
- Assist with VAT, PAYE and other statutory submissions .
- Prepare working papers, schedules and supporting documentation for monthly and annual reporting.
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to audit-related queries.
- Accurately capture and process client financial information.
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain outstanding information and resolve accounting queries.
- Ensure accounting records comply with relevant accounting standards, company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and assistance to Junior Accountants when required.
- Report to Senior Accountants and management on client accounting matters and outstanding requirements.
- Perform ad hoc accounting and administrative duties as required.
