Accountant (QSR/Retail) - CPT

Duties & Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Month-End Close:   Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, general ledger reviews, journal postings, accruals, and comprehensive balance sheet files within strict reporting timelines.

• Balance Sheet Control & Reconciliations:   Perform in-depth reconciliations across high-volume cashbooks, creditor accounts, inventory control, and statutory ledger accounts, resolving complex reconciling items swiftly.

• Stock, Inventory & Cost Management:   Oversee inventory accounting, support periodic stock takes, evaluate shrinkage and gross margin performance, and deliver clear variance analyses to operational leadership.

• Tax, Statutory & Audit Compliance:   Prepare VAT submissions, assist with provisional and corporate tax schedules, and serve as the key point of contact for external and franchisor audits.

• Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis:   Assist with annual budget builds, cash flow tracking, turnover rental schedules, and operational variance reporting to support strategic decision-making.

• Systems & Process Optimization:   Identify opportunities to automate workflows, streamline financial controls within Sage Evolution, and enhance reporting templates.

• Stakeholder Collaboration:   Partner with operations, payroll, and procurement to resolve financial queries and provide high-quality financial support.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Must-Haves (Essential)

• Education:   BCom Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, .

• Experience:   Minimum of 3+ years of commercial accounting experience within  a QSR/Retail environment

• Technical Skills:   Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, advanced financial formulas, large dataset analysis).

• Domain Knowledge:   Proven expertise in high-volume transaction environments, POS/merchant settlements, and complex balance sheet reconciliations.

• Attributes:   High resilience, exceptional attention to detail, structured mindset, and the ability to thrive under month-end deadline pressure.
