Accountant

Introduction

Our client is recruiting for an Accountant to join their Group Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accounting function from cash book through to financial statements and reporting to management and various regulators.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Preparing cash book entries and payments

• Reviewing payments

• Reviewing cash book entries and receipting fee income

• Preparing monthly journal entries

• Preparing and reviewing credit card journals and entries

• Preparing, processing and managing purchase invoices through the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accuracy, appropriate approvals and timely payment

• Preparing payment batches and supporting documentation and facilitating the progression of approved invoices through to payment execution

• Performing banking administration, including beneficiary maintenance, banking profile management, user access controls and liaising with banking institutions

• Monitoring bank accounts, performing reconciliations, resolving payment and banking queries and supporting cash flow management and payment planning

• Monthly preparation of AFS, management income statement

• Monthly analysis of income (versus budget and versus assets)

• Monthly capital adequacy monitoring for reporting to MD

• Regulatory reporting

• Quarterly and annual reporting

• Any other ad hoc regulatory reporting requirements and assistance

• Tax reporting for the different entities (Namibia, Botswana)

• Returns (and payments) for VAT (pending amendments), income tax, WHT

• Tax follow ups with authorities

• Preparing financial reports for the Directors’ meeting

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (B.Com, BAccSc, B.Compt or relevant)

• Financial services experience preferred, preferably 2-4 years post qualification

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel to an intermediate to advanced level

• Working experience with Business Central accounting system is highly preferred
