ACCOUNTANT (PLANT CONTROL)

The Accountant (Plant Control) will support the manufacturing operations by ensuring accurate plant cost accounting, inventory controls, production reporting, variance analysis, and financial performance monitoring. The role provides timely and reliable information on production costs, material consumption, inventory movements, manufacturing efficiencies, and plant performance to support operational decision-making and cost optimization initiatives. 1. Plant Cost Accounting Maintain accurate product costing and standard costing records. Monitor raw material, consumables, labour, and overhead costs. Review and validate production cost allocations. Support monthly cost roll-ups and cost updates within SAP. Ensure accuracy of manufacturing cost information. 2. Production Reporting & Analysis Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production performance reports. Analyze production costs against standards and budgets. Report material usage variances, yield variances, and production efficiencies. Investigate significant cost variances and recommend corrective actions. Support management with plant performance insights. 3. Inventory Accounting & Controls Monitor inventory valuation and reconcile inventory records. Participate in cycle counts and periodic physical stock counts. Investigate inventory discrepancies and ensure timely resolution. Track slow-moving, obsolete, and non-moving inventory. Ensure adherence to inventory control procedures. 4. Manufacturing Performance Monitoring Analyze plant operating costs and manufacturing overheads. Monitor machine utilization, productivity, and efficiency indicators. Evaluate wastage, scrap generation, and yield losses. Support initiatives aimed at cost reduction and process improvement. Provide financial analysis for operational improvement projects. 5. Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting Prepare monthly plant cost reports and reconciliations. Ensure accurate accounting of production transactions. Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities. Prepare journals relating to inventory and manufacturing costs. Assist in preparation of management reports and variance analysis. 6. SAP & Systems Management Ensure timely and accurate processing of production transactions in SAP. Support maintenance of BOMs (Bills of Material), routings, and costing structures. Assist in SAP master data governance relating to inventory and costing. Participate in SAP enhancement and automation initiatives. Support system controls around inventory and manufacturing accounting. 7. Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls. Support internal and external audits relating to inventory and manufacturing costs. Maintain proper documentation of costing and inventory transactions. Identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company procedures.
