My client a leading fashion retailer in Cape Town has an exciting new vacancy for an Accountant with experience in Forex.
An exciting and challenging opportunity has just become available for a Retail Accounting Manager within the business Finance Team. This role is fully in office.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
We are looking for an innovative, resilient, efficient and influential individual with a compelling commercial flair. This role will manage and administer the total forex function including technical accounting and other relevant compliance matters for the business brands.
This position for Accountant: Forex reporting directly to Finance Manager: Retail Accounting, is an exciting and challenging opportunity that will require the successful candidate to contribute significantly to enabling the business to achieve its long-term strategic objectives and profitability indicators.
Duties & Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
o To ensure compliance with, and relevance of, Group forex policy
o Timely execution & recording of forward cover purchases & subsequent settlement thereof
o Monthly and ad-hoc reporting of forward cover position
o Accuracy of quarterly hedge accounting (including tax calculations on affected contracts)
o Timely communication of all relevant exchange rates and ensuring all systems reflect the correct rates
o Accurate forecasting of forex impact on I/S & CFC account balances
o Budgeting of currency differences for annual budget
Desired Experience & Qualification
JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
o Knowledge of banks & financial institutions
o Ability to identify risks in financial processes
o Knowledge relating to foreign currency transactions and the financial accounting thereof.
o Good knowledge of general accounting principles & practice
o Experience with Budgeting, Forecasting, Costing & Profitability Analysis and Management Reporting
o Knowledge of various operational business cycle
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
o B.Comm or equivalent financial qualification
Preferred
o B.Comm (Hons) or CIMA certification
o Articles of financial clerkship completed or in progress
EXPERIENCE
Essential
o Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience at an Accountant level.
Preferred
o Retail experience will be an advantage.
o Experience in forex management will be an advantage.
