Accountant - Client Advisory (Fully remote - South Africa) for a US-based client

Introduction

Our client is an accounting and financial advisory firm based in the US, supporting small and medium-sized businesses across a range of industries, including technology, general contracting, and professional services.

We are looking for someone who has experience working in accounting or financial reporting roles, ideally with exposure to client-facing work or a small to medium-sized accounting practice.

Duties & Responsibilities

Early On

• Own accurate, timely monthly bookkeeping and financial reporting for the client account.

• Manage month-end close processes in QuickBooks Online and related platforms, continuously improving efficiency.

• Prepare periodic management reports and financial summaries.

• Get hands-on with the day-to-day detail work needed to build a complete, reliable picture of the client's financials.

• Work closely with the internal accounting team and external advisors and service providers as needed.

As You Grow

• Monitor financial performance and flag opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

• Analyse financial data and provide recommendations to support the client's strategic decisions.

• Review financial and corporate structures and identify opportunities for tax efficiency and process improvement.

• Develop and document finance processes, controls, and internal procedures as the account scales.

• Support the rollout of financial systems and reporting tools that enable the client's continued growth.

• Take on direct, client-facing advisory conversations, acting as a trusted extension of the client's finance function.

• Drive the adoption of technology and AI tools to automate and streamline accounting processes.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

• SAIPA/SAICA/AGA/CIMA qualified, having completed articles at a small or medium-sized accounting firm with broad exposure to accounting and financial management.

• Based in South Africa, with a dedicated home office, reliable high-speed internet, and backup power.

• Native or fully fluent English communication skills, written and verbal.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' working experience.

• Experience with monthly bookkeeping and financial reporting.

• Experience preparing management reports and financial insights.

• Exposure to reviewing financial and corporate structures for tax efficiency.

• Strong ethical standards and commitment to financial compliance and integrity.

• Prior exposure to US accounting or tax practices is advantageous but not required.

• Client-facing experience is advantageous.

Systems & Tools Experience

• QuickBooks Online (required).

• Excel (advanced).

• Comfort picking up additional niche accounting platforms as needed.

• Interest in leveraging technology and AI to improve financial processes.
