Introduction

Our client, an established South African wine & beverage group with an international footprint, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their finance team. Reporting to the Financial Manager, you will take ownership of accounting functions through to trial balance, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end processes, accruals and system journal integrations across multiple entities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage accounting functions through to trial balance across group entities.

• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and accruals.

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.

• Review general ledger transactions and system integration journals.

• Monitor and resolve Syspro integration discrepancies.

• Approve domestic and international payments.

• Ensure accurate and timely VAT, provisional tax and other statutory submissions.

• Support audits and maintain strong internal controls.

• Identify and implement process improvements.

• Supervise, mentor and develop the Assistant Accountant.

• Complete relevant regulatory reporting and questionnaires.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BCom, BTech Cost & Management Accounting or equivalent qualification.

• Minimum 5 years' experience  in a similar accounting role.

• Strong Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office  skills.

• Syspro experience advantageous.

• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to manage high volumes of financial data and meet deadlines.

• Distribution/logistics industry exposure advantageous.

• Fluent in English and Afrikaans

• Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Stellenbosch.

• Comfortable working in the liquor/alcohol industry

Package & Remuneration

R50 000p/m CTC
