About Us
Basa Tutorial Institute is an independent educational institution committed to delivering quality education from Grade R through to Grade 12. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team and contribute to the financial stability and growth of our organisation.
The Opportunity
This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad spectrum of accounting functions, including financial reporting, payroll administration, taxation, budgeting, compliance, and audit support. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organisation's financial records while supporting strategic financial planning.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform bookkeeping and financial data processing.
- Prepare and process tax calculations and SARS submissions.
- Manage payroll functions, including salary calculations, overtime, deductions, and employee benefits administration.
- Review and update relevant financial policies and procedures annually.
- Prepare annual financial statements.
- Maintain accounting records for ad hoc projects.
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting.
- Oversee and review debtors' functions and collections activities.
- Process and review journal entries.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Manage asset registers and fixed asset accounting.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles and statutory requirements.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 3 to 5 years' accounting experience.
- Proven payroll administration experience.
- Experience with financial statement preparation.
- Experience with taxation and SARS submissions.
- Exposure to budgeting, cash flow management, and forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and statutory deductions.
- Sound understanding of South African labour legislation and financial compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.

- SAICA Registration.
- Experience within an educational institution or non-profit environment.
Package & Remuneration
