Our client is a well-established Accounting Firm in Port Elizabeth, offering professional accounting and financial services to a diverse portfolio of clients. They are seeking to employ an experienced Accountant who enjoys hands-on accounting work, takes pride in accuracy and quality, and is comfortable managing multiple clients simultaneously. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly accounting for a portfolio of clients on Xero

• Handle accounting functions completely up to trial balance level

• Review and reconcile every trial balance account

• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts to relevant supporting documentation

• Review income statement accounts and identify any unusual or out-of-line items

• Manage the fixed asset register in Xero

• Prepare and manage recurring monthly journals, including payroll accruals

• Set up and manage accounting rules in Xero

• Prepare and submit VAT returns

• Arrange VAT payments with clients

• Attend to VAT verifications

• Assist with ad hoc accounting tasks as required

Minimum Requirements and Experience

• Previous experience working within an Accounting Firm would be highly advantageous

• Proven ability to manage a portfolio of clients simultaneously

• Intermediate to Advanced Xero experience is crucial

• Strong understanding of accounting up to trial balance level

• Ability to draft basic financial statements

• Strong understanding of balance sheet and income statement accounts

• Excellent Excel skills

• Good attention to detail and accuracy
